dream projects

  • Humane tech / ai

While mind-bending efficiencies are great, how might we also infuse AI/ML with humanity? With humans in the loop (HITL), we can be mindful of incomplete or biased data and make space for human creativity – getting us to high dimensional data that can shed light on the nuance and complexity at hand.

  • Designing with, not for

It’s not innovative if it’s not inclusive. In the midst of a loneliness epidemic, we all need to feel seen – and yet many don’t see themselves or their needs being accounted for. When we design a solution from end to end that works across a multitude of demos, life stages, abilities, etc., it starts to stretch how we think about who can benefit from solutions.

  • Cultivating Curiosity

This is THE source material for creativity, connection, growth, and understanding. The beginner’s mind is key to seeing things differently and finding the untapped potential that abounds. With everything changing all the time, this constant learning mode is a competitive advantage when it comes to building the future. There might be a book inside me one day.

  • Awe + the Great outdoors

We all need to connect to something bigger than ourselves to remember just how little everything in our world is in the scheme of things. Our “urge to affiliate with other forms of life” is real – and even small doses of this create physical / emotional benefits that are very real.

  • Future of Aging

Marketers would have you think that life ends at 45. I’ve seen countless segmentation studies that leave “older” folks out, as if we all might just stop buying sneakers and fall into a ditch. What’s more likely true, is that life starts to open up and aging individuals come into their power.

  • Color + Design + Semiotics

My heart, this is where my art and psych backgrounds collide. The story is always in the thousands of minute details. When they add up, it’s a shortcut to shared meanings. The most successful brands are masters at tapping into this network of associations to create distinction.

  • Creative Effectiveness

It’s certainly a buzzword, but one that leaves much of the interesting bits out. Don’t get me started on how many “test” this. Creative that is underpinned with emotion and great storytelling create impact. The right research can intentionally build this into the process.

Curiosity

Curiosity is the tool that sparks creativity. Curiosity is the technique that gets to innovation. Questions create a mindset of innovation and creativity.

Curiosity presumes that there might be something new out there. Curiosity presumes that there might be something outside our own experience out there.

Curiosity allows the possibility that the way we’re doing it now isn’t the only way, or even the best way.
